Frequently Asked Questions About The Celery’s 100% Organic Juices, Smoothies, Salads, Grain Bowls, Juice Cleanses and more!

1. What makes the Celery “Food That Works for You”?

The Celery is built on one promise: healthy food should taste amazing. All of our ingredients are 100% organic, with nothing added - no fluff, no water, no added sugar, no fillers and no shortcuts. We make everything from scratch - from our milks and nut butters to our veggie stock and sauces. Our menu is designed to optimize body and mind health to fuel your lifestyle.

2. How much does 100% organic really matter?

From our greens to our grains, from smoothies to salads, what we serve is only as good as how it’s grown. 100% Organic ingredients ensure:

  • Highest nutrients

  • Best taste

  • Smallest environmental footprint

  • No pesticides, no compromises

3. What is the difference between juice and smoothies?

Our juices, whether fresh or cold-pressed are over 2 pounds of 100% organic produce. The fiber is taken out which creates juice with 2-3 times the amount of all other vitamins and minerals. If you are looking for a vitamin bomb, juice is the way to go. Our smoothies are made with 100% organic whole produce, our house made milks and many organic additions. The fiber stays in tact and delivers a well rounded nutritious drink.

4. So if there is no fiber in juice, does the Celery have high fiber options?

YES! Nearly every single other item on the menu is USDA defined “High Fiber”. This means over 20% of the daily recommended fiber, but many of our bowls are 2-4 times that amount. For full nutritional information click here!

5. What is the difference between fresh juice and bottled juice? Which one should I order?

Our fresh juice is made is order, customizable and made using a Nutrifaster N450. This efficiently keeps in all of the nutrients and amazing flavors and is the best bet for anyone drinking the juice right away. It is best within an hour.

Our Cold-Pressed juice is made using a Goodnature X-1 hydraulic press, squeezing out all of the juice in small batches. This process keeps all of nutrients and flavor in tact for a longer period of time. We mark our bottles for 5 days so if you want to grab some juices for later, or later in the week, our bottled juices are the way to go. We make this in small batches throughout the week and bottle in glass to keep the juice, and the environment, the best they can be.

6. What should I do with the glass bottles once I am done?

We offer $0.50 back for every bottle returned. Sustainability is a core principle at the Celery and reusing what bottles we can helps reduce waste. Other ways we work towards a lower footprint include using all organic produce, using every part of the produce we can, donating our food every night to go towards food shelters, and composting everything else.

7. Do you use added sugars?

Nope. Unlike many smoothie bars in Portland, we never add refined sugar. Our blends balance fruits with vegetables like kale, spinach, cucumber, and celery, giving you satisfying flavor without blood sugar spikes. This is real juice, clean, energizing, and guilt-free.

8. Can juice replace eating whole fruits and veggies?

Juice is a fast, convenient way to boost your daily nutrient intake, especially for busy professionals, students, and parents. While juice doesn’t contain fiber, it pairs perfectly with a balanced meal or one of our smoothie bowls. That’s why the Celery is both a juice bar and healthy cafe in Portland: we give you options for complete nutrition.

9. Are juice cleanses healthy and sustainable?

Juice cleanses can reset your routine, improve hydration, and promote mindful eating. The Celery offers the best juice cleanses in Portland, complete with nutritional guidance, bottle return credits, and served in glass bottles. We encourage guests to eat whole, plant-based foods before and after their cleanse for long-term balance.

10. What are the benefits of adding turmeric, ginger, or greens?

  • Turmeric & Ginger shots: Natural anti-inflammatory powerhouses that boost immunity and help with recovery after workouts or hikes around Portland.

  • Leafy greens (spinach, kale, cilantro, basil): High in vitamins C and K for skin, energy, and alkalinity.

  • Superfood add-ins (spirulina, chia, flax): Extra nutrition that makes Portland’s healthiest juices even better.

That means more antioxidants, fewer harmful residues, and no hidden fillers. Over time, this cleaner nutrition can help reduce inflammation, support gut health, strengthen immunity, and provide steady, sustainable energy, making organic juice a smarter choice for long-term wellness.
